Toward Safe and Human-like Motion Generation for Autonomous Driving

چکیده
1. Project Overview In order to drive safely and efficiently, autonomous vehicles need to understand the behavior of others, predict their future motions and plan desirable motions which are safe and human-like to execute. In this project, we tackled motion prediction and planning together as a motion generation problem to achieve accurate comprehension of others, as well as safe and human-like behavior generation for autonomous vehicles.

Toward Safe, Feasible and Human-Like Motion Generation for Urban Autonomous Driving
Motion prediction and motion planning problems are deeply interconnected for urban autonomous driving. In this project, we target the problem of safe, feasible and human-like motion generation. A non-conservatively defensive strategy (NCDS) is proposed, which is defensive under the worst case to guarantee safety, but not conservative so as to degrade driving quality and generate behaviors which...
متن کاملToward More Realistic Driving Behavior Models for Autonomous Vehicles in Driving Simulators
Autonomous vehicles are one of the most, if not the most, encountered elements in a driving simulator. Their impact on the realism of the simulator is critical. For autonomous vehicles to contribute positively to the realism of the hosting driving simulator, they need to have realistic appearance and, possibly more importantly, realistic behavior. This paper addresses the problem of modeling re...
متن کاملOnline Speed Adaptation Using Supervised Learning for High-Speed, Off-Road Autonomous Driving
The mobile robotics community has traditionally addressed motion planning and navigation in terms of steering decisions. However, selecting the best speed is also important – beyond its relationship to stopping distance and lateral maneuverability. Consider a high-speed (35 mph) autonomous vehicle driving off-road through challenging desert terrain. The vehicle should drive slowly on terrain th...
متن کاملDetection of Principle Directions in Unknown Environments for Autonomous Navigation
Autonomous navigation in unknown but wellstructured environments (e.g., parking lots) is a common task for human drivers and an important goal for autonomous vehicles. In such environments, the vehicles must obey the standard conventions of driving (e.g., passing oncoming vehicles on the correct side), but often lack a map that can be used to guide path planning in an appropriate way. The robot...
متن کاملPath and velocity trajectory selection in an anticipative kinodynamic motion planner for autonomous driving
This paper presents an approach for plan generation, selection and pruning of trajectories for autonomous driving, capable of dealing with dynamic complex environments, such as driving in urban scenarios. The planner first discretizes the plan space and searches for the best trajectory and velocity profile of the vehicle. The main contributions of this work are the use of G-splines for path gen...
